As we enter the new normal post-pandemic, quite a few companies have given their employees the option of a hybrid work schedule. Though it may be defined differently amongst companies, a hybrid work schedule allows employees to work a certain number of days in the office and a certain number of days remotely from home.
With many companies adopting the hybrid flexibility, gone are the days of everyone getting together in the break room to talk about must see TV or the local team's playoff win. As our children have discovered through games like Fortnite or Roblox, there is a robust "world" growing online... And it's just the tip of what many are referring to as the “Metaverse” - where you can stay connected while in the comfort of your home.
Will the Metaverse allow not just employees to virtually connect, but allow employers to communicate company strategy and employee benefits? I am not sure. What I do know is that the next 10 years of employee engagement is going to be very different than the previous decade.
